Year 3/4 Foamy Science Experiment!

In Year 3/4 Science, we have been learning about heat and to further explore this concept, we learnt about exothermic reactions during an investigation today.

An exothermic reaction is a chemical reaction that releases heat.

We all took safety very seriously, by making sure we
wore the proper safety equipment. This included a pair of  goggles for each student, gloves and also conducting our experiment outside to protect our lovely carpet!
Thanks Mr Roberts for lending us the goggles!

We loved seeing the result of the chemical reaction taking place. Watch the video
below to see for yourself!

After observing the reaction, the students were able to wear gloves and touch the bottle to feel the heat, which was the result of an exothermic reaction taking place.

It was such a fun lesson and we are all looking forward to our investigation next week!
